If your LG dishwasher is showing a CL error code this means the child lock has been activated. Most LG dishwashers have this setting to stop young children from opening the dishwasher while it’s operating. If you have accidentally activated the child lock function and want to turn it off this guide will tell you how to do it.

Follow these steps to remove the CL error code on your LG dishwasher:

  1. Locate the child lock button. Depending on your specific LG dishwasher model it will be labeled CL or it might be a padlock icon.
  2. Press the child lock button down until the code disappears from the display screen (it should take about 3 to 5 seconds).
  3. Turn your LG dishwasher onto a cycle to make sure your appliance can now operate. If your dishwasher doesn’t work or the CL code doesn’t disappear you will need to get a technician to come and inspect your appliance.

These instructions apply to all major LG dishwasher models, including:

Common LG dishwasher error codes

Hopefully, you were able to remove the CL error code by following our instructions. If your dishwasher is displaying a different error code, the information below will help you remove it.

LG dishwasher error code AE

An AE error code indicates your dishwasher is leaking. The most common causes of this problem include a faulty leak sensor, your dishwasher isn’t sitting level, there is excess water in the drain pan, you’re using the wrong type of detergent or a faulty circulation pump.

To remove the code, follow these steps:

  1. Start by making sure there isn’t an excess build-up of soap suds in your dishwasher. If so, remove some of the water and suds from your appliance.
  2. Check that the dishwasher is sitting level on the floor.
  3. Check the door seal/gasket to make sure it isn’t defective.
  4. Check the drain pan under the dishwasher to make sure it isn’t full of water.
  5. Check all the hoses and connection points for any leaks.

If you find that any of the above issues exist with your dishwasher they will need to be rectified. If you are unable to remove the error code yourself you will need to get a technician to come and inspect your dishwasher.

LG dishwasher error code bE

The bE error code means your dishwasher isn’t sitting level or there are excess soap subs inside the appliance. To stop this error from occurring make sure you are using the recommended detergent for your specific LG dishwasher. To remove the code, remove any excess soap suds from your dishwasher and make sure your appliance is sitting level on the floor. If it isn’t level, adjust the legs until it is.

LG dishwasher error codes CE and LE

A CE or LE error code indicates a problem with the motor – including the wiring that connects the motor to the control board. To remove the code, reset your dishwasher by turning it off for 1 minute before turning it back on again. If a reset doesn’t solve the problem you will need to get a technician to come and inspect your dishwasher.

LG dishwasher error code FE

If your LG dishwasher is showing a FE error code it means your appliance has detected there is too much water in it. To remove the code, reset your dishwasher by turning it off for 1 minute before turning it back on again. If that doesn’t work, you will need to get a technician to come and inspect the inlet valve and the main control board.

LG dishwasher error code HE

The HE error code indicates your appliance isn’t able to heat the water to the required temperature or not at all. To remove the code, reset your dishwasher by turning it off for 1 minute before turning it back on again. If that doesn’t work, you will need to get a technician to come and inspect the heating element, thermistor, temperature sensor, heater relays, and the main control board.

LG dishwasher error code IE

If your LG dishwasher is showing an IE error code it means the water level is not high enough for the wash cycle to continue. Usually, the issue can be solved by checking all of the hoses to make sure your dishwasher is getting the required water supplied to it.

Follow these steps to remove the IE error code:

  1. Make sure the water valves are turned on.
  2. Check the water line is not kinked or bent out of shape.
  3. Check the drain hose is not kinked or has moved out of place.
  4. Check the water pressure is between 20 and 120 PSI.

Once you have carried out these checks and have rectified any issues, turn your dishwasher on and check if the error code has gone. If not, you will need to get a technician to come and inspect your appliance.

LG dishwasher error code OE

An OE error code means your dishwasher has detected a blockage that is preventing your appliance from draining. To remove the error code, remove the filter from the bottom of your dishwasher and clean it out. You should then make sure all of the hoses are not bent out of shape. Once the filter is clean and the hoses have been checked, reset your dishwasher by turning it off for 1 minute before turning it back on again. If the error code is still showing, you will need to get a technician to come and inspect the drain pump.

LG dishwasher error code PF

A PF error code occurs when your house has had a power surge or cut. When this happens, the power supply to your dishwasher can become interrupted which can make your appliance shut down. To remove the code, start by pressing any button on the control panel for 10 seconds.

If that doesn’t remove the code, reset your dishwasher by turning it off for 1 minute before turning it back on again. If your dishwasher still doesn’t work, you will need to get a technician to come and inspect your power supply.
