Inspected the unit and could hear the gearcase making a wobbling and grinding noise on a high spin and the basket shaking all over the place when spinning. Entered diagnostics and attempted to recalibrate the unit but once entering diagnostics the unit would just freeze and not function. Inspected the underside of the unit and found grease at the gearcase and tub. Attempted to remove the washplate but the bolt was stripped after attempting to remove it. Unit needs a tub job and control. This repair would require additional labor and a second tech. Called Assurant and advised of the issue. Aligned door properly and installed new gasket. Fresh food door is very hard to open. Has a very tight vacuum seal. Unit falls under service bulletin for hard door open. Service bulletin suggest drilling a 3/16 inch hole into the defrost drain tube to help release vacuum. Removed compartment cover and drilled hole. Door is opening much easier now. All ok.

"Unit is still freezing items in the lower fresh food section. Checked for error codes. Found fresh food evaporator sensor error, and abnormal defrost errors. Removed evaporator over and found the evap temp sensor out of place, a clogged defrost drain, and the evaporator fan blowing air in the wrong direction. Fan was replaced by another service company. The fan was installed upside down. This is causing everything to freeze in the lower half and is causing the ice maker issues. It isnt getting cool enough to make ice from improper air flow. Installed fan correctly, reinstalled temp sensor to evaporator, and cleared defrost drain. Advised customer to let unit run for 48 hours and monitor the temp."
