Inspected the unit and found the shipping brackets had not been removed from the unit per the installation instructions. The belt had come off the motor and gearcase because the motor shaft/guide for the belt had broke off. The damage to the unit is due to the shipping instructions not being followed and the brackets left attached to the unit and not allowing the unit to vibrate and release tension as the motor runs. The unit being run this way over time has caused damage to the motor. Damage is not covered under the warranty. Advised the customer that whoever installed the unit is responsible for repair or replacement.

"Unit is 17 years old in the kitchen. Customer states that unit was cooling weak in the freezer section and then the fresh food section. Now the unit isnt cooling in either section. The evaporator fan is running. No frost on the evaporator. Pulled unit and inspected. Compressor and condenser fan arent running. Fan is getting voltage but wont move. Fan is locked up. The compressor is tripping the thermal overload. It is drawing 13 amps then shutting down. Compressor is locked up. Compressor locked up from lax of air movement. Condenser fan locked up then the compressor failed. Also found broken water lines. Lines are brittle from heat. Unit needs compressor kit, condenser fan, and water reservoir. Due to age and cost of repair customer does not wish to proceed."

Inspected unit and found the tub cover and balance ring were rubbing causing the plastic to wear and holes developing on the balance ring. Customer was concerned about unit stopping shortly after starting to fill. Started a cycle and within a few minutes the unit began to flash an error code for a broken belt. Took front panel off of unit and found the belt still intact and properly on the motor.
