"Customer states that unit wont fill. Checked control for error codes and found F7E1 tachometer missing, F7E6 motor open circuit, and F7E7 motor unable to reach rpm. No errors for filling issues. Basket spins freely by hand. Ran diagnostics cycle to test functions. Unit fills with no issues. Unit will not spin or agitate. The motor just hums. The motor has a shorted winding and a bad capacitor. The unit wont fill because the control attempts to sense the motor first. If it detects an issue it wont fill. "Customer states that the control is not recognizing the lid closed. The lid switch is good but the lock is loose in the cabinet. Found the bezel cracked where lock bolts to it. This is why the lid intermittently wont lock. The unit needs lid lock, bezel, screws, and drip tray. Tech glued old bezel to help it hold until we can get back with the parts needed. Tech to bring zip tie to secure harness to lid lock. "Customer states that the unit isnt spinning the water out of the clothes. They have to run any additional drain/spin cycle to get them spun out enough to dry. Ran diagnostics cycle to check for error codes. Found F7E6 motor circuit open, and F0E4 spin limited by water temperature. Inspected water lines and found the reversed. This will limit the spin speed of the unit. The motor test good. No loose connections or broken wires. Unit spins up to full speed with no issues. Also agitates with no issues. When switching to drain/spin cycle the control does not look at the water temperature so it will not effect the spin speed in this cycle. Swapped water lines and calibrated the control. Ran diagnostics cycle to test. Unit is operating as it should."

No loose hoses. Unit is level. No cracks in the outer tub. Ran diagnostics to test. No error codes and unit functioned as it should. Ran bulky cycle with deep water to test. Whirlpool has a service bulletin to address water leaks from the softener area. They have a redesign of the tub ring to help prevent water splashing out when filling. Unit is 7 years old in laundry room. Customer states that unit wont drain and lid wont unlock. They have unplugged the unit to reset but this did not help. Forced unit into test mode. Lid unlocked. No error codes stored. Forced all loads on in test mode and they all operated as they should. Both water valves opened but very slow to flow. Opened shut off valves and flow has greatly improved. Ran rinse/spin with load to test. Unit operated as it should. Suspect that with the closed water supply the unit stopped running. It sensed that the unit was taking longer than expected to fill and stopped the cycle. It wont drain or advance if this occurs. Code was cleared when the customer had reset the breaker. If problem reoccurs the unit would need a main control and drive control.

"Customer states that the unit wont tumble. Voltage to the unit is correct at 248 VAC. Found the blower housing thermal fuse shorted open, the heater housing thermal fuse shorted open and the heater shorted to ground. The heater shorted to ground and caused the other fuses to fail. Replaced fuses and heater. Ran to test and unit is operating as it should. All ok. ; used 1 279838 ( Heater), and 1 279816 ( Thermal cut-off) from stock"

"Customer states that unit is not dispensing the fabric softener. Inspected unit and found it out of level. Leveled unit and ran diagnostics test. Fabric softener valve is working the way it should. Advise customer to make sure they are using the fabric softener selection. If fabric softener is not selected, it will not dispense. Suspect that the unit not being level is what was causing the fabric softener not to dispense. If problem persists after leveling unit and advising customer, the unit will need the main control and the water valve."

"Inspected the unit and found no error codes while in diagnostic. Ran quick test cycle and the unit filled with water, activated the wash motor and the lower and upper spray-arms, ran a drain cycle and the unit drained the water into the garbage disposal. While in diagnostic I tested the detergent/rinse aid dispenser and heating element and they all passed. Rinse aid dispenser reservoir empty. Made adjustments to the door gasket and latch to confirm proper closure. Customers concerned of the dishes not drying and sitting water in the filter area. Advised the customer to use rinse aid on a regular basis and that this unit is a sump drain system and there will always be sitting water in the filter area. All checks ok."

Ran diagnostics and found both the thermistor in the freezer and fresh food section functioning properly and passing the test. Found the dampener door passing diagnostics test. Inspected the unit and found the the unit leaking from the float switch. Found a large amount of suds in the bottom. Made adjustment to the float switch to prevent leaks and ran a clean cycle with extra-virgin olive oil in the unit to help break down the sides. Showed this to the customer and recommend I use cleaning tablets more often and not use the cascade tablets with Dawn dish soap in it.
