"Unit is 14 years old in closet with dryer stacked. Customer states that the unit was smoking from inside the basket. Unit has signs of the inner basket dragging the door boot. This will produce smoke. Inner basket is not spinning true. Ran spin test. Motor is in good shape but the inner basket has come loose. It rubs the door boot/tub front. This is producing the smoke. The unit needs the inner basket, front and rear tub halves, dampers, and motor bolt. Two pieces are no longer available. Unit is in a closet. "Customer states that the unit wont heat to temperature in bake, and both front burners burn food on low setting. Inspected unit and found the infinite switches shorted and the bake element shorted open. The broil element is good. The temperature sensor is reading 1,076 ohms at room temperature. Sensor is good. Replaced bake element and ran to test. Unit got to 350 degrees within 13 minutes. "Customer states that regardless of load size or cycle selection in the unit is going out of balance. Also taking very long to finish a load. Both issues are related. The unit is going out of balance, and attempting to rebalance itself by going back into the rinse cycle. This is what is extending in the cycle. Inspected the suspension and found the left front worn. Also found play in the transmission assembly. "Customer states that the unit is going out of balance on small loads. When it goes out of balance, it is not spinning all the water out of the clothes. Inspected unit and found it out of level. It has a hard lean to the right. Leveled unit and ran diagnostics to test. Unit had error codes for balance ending the final spin. Ran spin test and unit is running smooth and getting to full speed. Drain pump is also working as it should. Advised customer not to wash single heavy items. They need to have something to match the weight to balance it out. After leveling the unit is functioning as it should. All OK"

"Unit is 13 years old in the kitchen. Customer states the freezer started warming then the fresh food section did. They unplugged the unit for a few days and plugged it back in this morning. When I arrived control was set to the off position. Turned control on. Condenser fan, evaporator fan, and compressor came on. Allowed unit to run to inspect the frost pattern. Unit is developing a decent frost pattern. Temperatures in the unit continued to drop. Unit is currently functioning as it should.

Inspected the unit and found ice in the freezer section at the drain pan. Pulled the unit forward and cleared the drain line from the back and advised the customer to defrost the unit for 24 hours with the freezer door open. I advised the customer if they have continuing issues with it leaking they may have an insulation blockage around the drain line and that is not repairable.

Inspected the unit and found it not level and the lower spray arm detached. Made adjustments to the sprayarm and attempted to level the unit as best I could. Made adjustments to the drain hose underneath the unit. Ran a test cycle and found no leaks. All checks ok.

Inspected the unit and found the shipping brackets still installed on the rear of the unit. Photos taken. Advised the customer that GE will not cover any damage or issues with the unit if it was not installed correctly. Per GE manufacturer installation documents all shipping bolts and brackets have to be removed from the rear of the unit or possible washing issues may result. Customer having a drain filter error. Cleared the filter. Advised the customer to contact the retailer regarding the unit.

Inspected the unit and found damage to the door latch. I was able to make adjustments to the door latch and re-calibrated the unit. All checks OK

Inspected the unit and found a coin down near the wash plate and the unit unbalanced. Adjusted legs to make the unit balanced and removed the coin. Provided information to the customer. All checks OK

"Unit is five years old in the kitchen. Customer states that items in the top shelf of the fresh food section are freezing, and it is leaking water from out of the freezer. Items are freezing in the fresh food section due to their proximity to where the air comes out. Damper and evaporator fan are operating normally. Advise customer on placement of items in the fresh food section to prevent freezing. Water leak is a clogged defrost drain in the freezer section. Thawed drain and installed heater wire. Verified drain is open and unit is functioning as it should. All okay"

"Customer states that unit is going off balance on larger loads. Towels, and bedding material usually. Unit is level as it sits. Inner basket has play on the transmission shaft. Suspension is tight. No error code stored in the system. Ran diagnostic cycle and unit would not get to spin speed. It is going off-balance. Removed agitator to inspect the drive hub and found the drive loose from the inner basket. It is loose where the hub mounts to the basket base. Also found signs of the balance ring leaking. The ring has no fluid in it and it caused unit to vibrate more. This has worn the drive. "Customer states that they were able to run one load before the dryer stopped heating again. Inspected unit and found the thermal fuse on the heater shorted open again. Also found that the new heating element had shorted to ground. When the heating element shorted to ground. It allowed the unit to overheat and pop the thermal fuse. Customer states that unit caught fire inside the drum. Inspected unit and found no shorted or broken wires. The heater isnt shorted to ground. The thermistor and limit thermostat are good. Thermal fuse is open from fire. Unit cant be made safe again. No odor of chemicals in the unit. No odor of gasoline or other flammable sources. I suspect the relay on the control stuck closed and allowed the unit to overheat. "Inspected the unit and found multiple door switches bad again and the unit tripping the breaker. This is the third time in the past 12 months that something has caused the door switches to fail. We are unable to repair the unit completely, anything we do at this point will continue to fail due to the microwave cavity.
