Forced unit into defrost. Control is sending voltage to heater but not through the defrost thermostat. Thermostat is shorted open. Ice maker is freezing up from outside air getting in. This blocks the air flow and allows cubes to melt. Unit is in need of the air handler kit and defrost thermostat. Ran through home position switching process. Unit cycled between freezer and refrigerator. Fixed defrost issues and put into eight hour defrost. Instructed customer to keep an eye on it for 24 hours and if it is not cool then we will need to start digging into the sealed system. Showed customer floor damage caused by water and previous services from another company.

Inspected the unit and found a large amount of soap suds built up inside the basket. Also found the suspension rods and shocks making a loud squealing sound during initial spin and on the slow down. During a high spin cycle I could hear wobbling or screeching coming from the gear case. This is an indicator the gear case only has a few years left in its lifespan. Replacing the gear case is not recommended due to cost. Provided estimate to the customer for the suspension and shocks.

"Customer concern over humidity/frost that refroze in freezer compartment. Upon arrival checked temperature in both freezer around 2F and 38F in fresh food section. Checked freezer door seal looks good. Had some slight buildup appears from high humidity days and customer had admitted putting up strawberries to freeze. They also had some issues with home central air so suspect just excess humidity in unit. Checks ok, told customer to monitor and take pics."

"Upon arrival, set timer, opened door and checked door switch, held closed and hit start button. Unit started right up, and was heating, no weird noises. Proceeded to test multiple starts with different timer settings all ok. Had customer put in clothes from washer and unit started right up. Gave troubleshooting tips about listening and checking the timer, and motor and if motor hums or to try holding door switch and turning drum by hand while someone hit start button to see if start windings are bad? And check and unplugging unit and try again. Everything checks out at this point. Told customer to monitor and use troubleshooting notes."
