"Customer claims when they pulled out ice bucket they seen something hanging down and when she went to reach in and grab it got shocked and the whole unit went out. Upon arrival unit was plugged in but no ui, lights or anything. Checked wall outlet good. It appears there was a good size crack in icemaker tray which probably leaked and therefore froze up unit causing issue. When customer pulled bucket out the thermistor was ripped off bottom and wires broke into causing the short. The wiring harness to the refrigerator looks ok. The unit will need new icemaker and a main control to start, Possibly other electronic components as well. Customer will think it over but not advisible due to age and condition."

Ran unit in bake to check temps and smoke. Thermostat has a 75 degree variance before it cycle. It will heat to 450 when set at 425 then cool to 370 before cycling the burner back on. Unit needs thermostat and knob set. Thermostat is NLA as of 05/09. Smoke is from vent pipe. Years of grease build up in it cause it to smoke when heating. Vent pipe needs degreased. Unit is 17 years old in kitchen. Upon arrival customer stated that unit is leaving dishes greasy and not cleaning at all. Detergent isn’t being washed out of cup either. Checked unit and found it not filling with much water and wash arms not moving water. Unit is filling but not enough. No clogs in fill. Motor is getting voltage but not pumping water. Found wash impeller broke free from motor shaft shaft is damaged so it need a new motor. Fill valve is only partially opening not allowing full pressure. Unit needs fill valve and pump assembly. Unit is 9 years old in kitchen. Ice maker isn’t cycling because it has an intermittent dead spot. Was able to cycle but it stalled out. Water isn’t as cold as it should be because it’s not as cool as it should be in the fresh food section. Temp set at 36 but reading at 45. Found evaporator fan not moving air. "Upon arrival customer stated that ice maker isn’t making ice and unit stopped cooling and water was leaking. Unit was running and cooling when I arrived. Checked ice maker diagnostics and found ice tray thermistor reading 50 when temp was in 20’s. Replaced ice maker and cycled to test. It functions as it should. Thermistor is reading normal now. Freezer had water droplets across the top and ice around the door frame. Thawed freezer and checked operation. Compressor, and all fans run. Defrost circuit is good. No clogged defrost drain. Ice fell from fill tube for lower ice maker. Unit does not have a lower ice maker and fill tube shouldn’t have water in it. Water valve diode may be bad and shorting out. Unable to pull unit out at this time to verify. Water line is too short to get behind the unit. Advised customer and he will remedy. ; ordrng 1 242253002 (valve-water), used 1 243297609 (ICE MAKER) from stock"

Upon arrival found unit up to 50 in fresh food and 0 in freezer. Frost built up across evaporator cover. Put unit into diagnostics. Sensors show good. Defrost thermostat shows closed which it should be at 0. Forced unit into defrost to check for voltage. Have full voltage all the way to the defrost thermostat but only partial voltage at other side of defrost thermostat. Heater is good. Unit needs defrost thermostat. ; ordrng 1 242046001 (thermostat-defrost)

"Found unit freezer in bottom cooling, 0F but fan is not running. Removed damper cover damper is opening and closing ok. Cool air is not getting to frig. The compressor has been running suspect issue with cooling fan and possibly control. Told customer to keep thermometer in freezer and that it in fact stays cooling. Frig section will not cool with evap fan running. Saved estimate with part pricing and labor plus service call. Unit appears to have been an issue caused by power surge."
