Inspected the unit and customers complaint was there was smoke coming from the unit. Started a bake cycle and found the unit getting up to temperatures. Pulled the unit out and removed the back panel and checked for any wiring in the back. Made adjustments to some wires that look like it was rubbing on the rear frame. Reinstalled the unit and continued the bake cycle.the unit was heating up and appeared to be operating correctly. All checks good.

When he unplugged the unit and plugged it back up the unit started cooling properly. Customer stated that there was some ice buildup around the freezer section after he defrosted the unit. Advise him that theres potential control board issue and is not kicking it out of a defrost. Advised him of the cost of the repair and he wanted to wait on the repairs and do some researching himself.All checks good.

"Inspected unit and ran a diagnostic test. Found no error codes. Looked under the unit and found no damage, no water, no grease. Ran multiple tests and could hear a short squeal sound when going from medium to high spin. Found discoloration on top of basket inside unit, Found no other defects with the unit. Advised customer to use cleaning tabs to help with detergent buildup and discoloration. All checks good. Called techline and provided diagnosis. Techline advised for the customer to clean the basket with Affresh and cut down on detergent usage. Noise during spin cycle is noted as normal for these gearcase cam kits and will come and go over time. Whirlpool advised continue usage of the unit as the sound is not manufacturer defect."

Checked unit over found that unit was taking longer than one cycle to dry. I went outside and the vent was about 50% restricted. Instructed them to clean the vents. They were also getting a little bit of a squeaking noise that was because there was lint built up on the rollers I cleared them off and told them after they get the vents cleaned that should resolve any further noises and will resolve the long dry times.

Check unit over and found that the customer said the unit was running and she heard a sparking and a burning smell and then it completely shut down. Motor was making a terrible noise before stopping. Unit will not power on at all. Unit needs new motor and blower wheel.
