"Upon arrival found fresh food evaporator frosted over. Thawed ice and inspected evaporator. Ran diagnostics to check thermistors and fan. Rc fan runs and thermistors show good. Unit uses evap fan to defrost rc evaporator. Evap fan runs fine in diagnostics. Thermistor has been moved already at previous service. Unit is set in the ADC mode for defrost. Called Whirlpool Techline and spoke with Don. He said to replace the evap fan with thermistors and to check 3 way valve. Checked 3 way valve and valve isn’t switching from home. Valve being stuck in home position can cause frosting of rc evaporator. Unit needs fan and 3 way valve. Customer spoke with whirlpool and Lowes and is wanting to have unit replaced. Advised I’d proceed as normal and if they exchange it to notify us. Please mail out invoice and previous service invoices for customers records. Customer states that the unit is leaking. Found that the refrigerator drain line is clogged again. Thawed out the drain line and removed the back cover and clean out he drain line duckbill cover. Flush hot water and steam in the drain line and the water was not going down as fast as it should. Ran a brush down the drain line and it was not as easy to push down as some units. Possible the the unit has a bad drain line. Per samsung it could be a shift in the insulation pinching the drain line. Advise the warranty company.

"Upon arrival temp checks around 3F in freezer and fresh food section is in 70s, ice also melted in ice compartment. Also noticed the mullion strip was very warm to the touch above room temperature. All food has already been removed and spoiled. Customer claims they first noticed fan making a noise like fan hitting something then stopped all together this was around 7 days ago. Removed freezer evap cover and checked freezer fan is working ok, the fan in bottom left hand side that is used to cool icemaker and frig section was bound up by some ice. The evaporator had a good frost pattern, so i do not see an defrost issue. Not sure how this little bit of ice formed but customer did admit right before the fan was making noise that they possibly didnt get the door shut all the way. Told the, to continue to monitor. Unit appears to check ok."
