"Unit is 9 years old in the basement. Customer states that the unit sounds like a jet engine when in spin. Inner basket spins freely by hand. Some noise/resistance when turning by hand. No horizontal or vertical play in the tub. Removed top and back panel to inspect. No signs of rubbing. Signs of a small leak from the tub seal. Cannot remove rotor bolt easily to inspect further. Do not want to snap the bolt. Ran unit in spin only to test/verify noise. Noise is from the bearings in the back half of the outer tub. They are likely worn from the small leak. Suspension is tight and drain pump is quiet. The unit needs the rear tub assembly, stator bolt, and inner basket."

During the spin cycle the inner basket would not spin and appeared to be locked up on the stator. Inspected the underside of the unit and found grease on the stator due to a faulty gearcase. Provided a rough estimate for gearcase ($600-700) depending on any complications. Not a recommended repair due to age of unit. Customer will contact us if they wish to move forward with the repair.

The unit heated for about a minute and then I heard a loud popping sound coming from inside the unit and the dryer stopped heating. Disassembled the unit and found the heating element was shorted out. Tested all the fuses, wiring harness, voltage from the control and motor and found no issues. Called assurant with the issue and advised of the possible issues and since we could not locate the specific cause of failure we could not guarantee the parts order and repair would resolve the issue. Assurant to send out a second opinion. Assurant to contact the customer and replace the unit. ; used 1 DE486A (ELEMENT) from stock"

"Customer states that certain items/loads arent spinning out. Discussed cycle selection and options to improve performance. Checked control board for error code. Found out of balance, and locked rotor errors. This is causing the unit not to spin properly. Unit is level. Suspension is tight. Ran spin test. Unit gets to full speed with no issues. Unit also agitates with no issues. Control shows a software update available for locked rotor errors. It allows the machine to spin up, and decreases sensitivity. This prevents the false locked rotor error and slow spin. Unit is functioning as it should."
